Eye care professionals specialize in understanding how the human eye really works, as well as diseases and conditions that affect your vision – many of which do not have obvious symptoms. Eye doctors know how age and risk factors affect vision over time for young and old, and they understand the benefits and features of corrective lenses including eyeglasses and contacts.
Dr. Sim takes the time to explain the results of your eye exam, describe your options and listen to your eye care needs. Because maintaining good eye health is an ongoing partnership, we encourage you to ask questions and share your health information, which could be vital to monitoring, diagnosing and treating potential vision problems.
Meet Our Doctor
Dr. Van Le Sim, O.D. was born in Cambodia, but spent her early years in a refugee camp in Thailand. After immigrating to the United States with her family at the age of six, they made Southern California their new home. Dr. Sim graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from UCSD (Go Tritons!) and earned her Doctorate of Optometry degree from the Southern California College of Optometry in Fullerton. During her optometric education, Dr. Sim completed various externships to strengthen her skill in ocular disease, primary care and contact lenses.
After graduating with honors from optometry school in 2013, Dr. Sim went on to serve three years active duty as an Army Captain delivering quality eye care services to active and former service members and their families. She was a preceptor to optometric externs and participated in and led her optometry team during a humanitarian mission to nations in the Pacific where they provided free eyeglasses and eye care services to the underserved population. Although she enjoyed being an optometrist in the Army, she separated from the service in 2016 to be with her family and to pursue her dream of owning a business.
Dr. Sim has a special interest in children’s vision, but enjoys helping patients of all ages. She is licensed to treat all ranges of eye diseases to include the diagnosis and treatment of Glaucoma. She is a firm believer that patients deserve highly personalized, one-on-one care. She takes the time to really get to know every patient on a personal level.
On her free time, Dr. Sim enjoys working out, bowling, volunteering, and spending quality time outdoors with her husband and twins. She loves meeting new people and is excited to become an integral part of the Burbank community. Dr. Sim is accepting new patients so call us today at 818-557-0016 to schedule an appointment.
